Nellie's Xmas coat in Samantha's Winter Party

I read just now, Short Story Samantha's Winter Party. In the book Samantha wear's Nellie's coat! (except for the fur trim on the bottom) The coat is the same one like the coat they have for Nellie! So is Nellie's coat a hand- me down?

Yeah, I was surprised they made that coat for Nellie and not Samantha.

As a side note on Nellie's coat, I got a box from AG day before yesterday (had a present from my sister-in-law in it [img]smile.gif[/img] ) and it included a catalog that included Nellie's and Samantha's coats! If they are going to put it in their catalog, they ought to let you buy it, even if it is on backorder! [img]mad.gif[/img]

A hand me down with ermine fur- not bad at all. The cards with the coat said that was what it was supposed to be.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm not surprised. Yeah, it sucks, but it takes money to make a catalog, so there not going to change it everytime something backorders. Besides, it would be really empty if they did [img]smile.gif[/img] That's still annoying though.

I know it's too much money to change it if something backorders, but they are not even letting people order the coats on backorder! So imagine the moms, grandmas, and others who try to order from that catalog only to be told the coats aren't being sold any longer (at least till next fall--we HOPE!). [img]frown.gif[/img] I know it's kind of unrealistic to expect them to change a catalog on a dime, but it still gets my goat a little that SINCE they are in the catalog, they won't even let you order those items at all, even on backorder.

If AG changed their catalog everytime an item was no longer available the cost would come out of our pockets. Lands End and L L Bean frequently show sizes and colors of items that are not available.
The important thing is that AG is making an effort to provide these items next fall.
The problem is probably availability of fabric and "fur" at this time of the year.

That is true. It took me 2 full years to order a red toggle coat in XS from Bean. Every time the catalogue would arrive, I was told it was sold out in that size and color. I finally ordered it on lin in August.
